11 Life is Hard

Life Is Hard.  That’s why no one survives.

We FEEL this!!!

“When you’re watching your baby son die, or your child fight to live and learn to walk again or watch your wife lose her memory or or or … when you KNOW what matters in life … the little battles we naturally experience over ego seem to disappear because they are overshadowed by gratitude. ⁣” ― Richie Norton

Those times that are hardest are what make the good times worth celebrating. Those who recognize purpose in life more readily learn from the hard times and celebrate the lessons they bring as enhancements to better periods of life. This attitude enhances their drive to strive for “better” and put 110% into whatever they tackle.

“The purpose of life, as far as I can tell… is to find a mode of being that’s so meaningful that the fact that life is suffering is no longer relevant.” ― Jordan B. Peterson, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief

Those who understand that there is a purpose to life will find it meaningful, the ultimate challenge, and will give it all they’ve got. How effective all their efforts prove to be will depend on their focus and attitudes during the tedium as well as the enjoyable.

We already know not to focus on the pothole unless we want to hit it. Connecting that simple bike riding lesson to other ventures isn’t always automatic. Some of us only catch the truth after it is explained to us.

These days we have learned to prefer to live intentionally focused on thriving day to day. This approach lends those diamond-forming times a bit more bearability.

On the other side, those times that are hardest are what make the good times so very exciting to live, anticipate, recall and so worth celebration.

In our experience, those who recognize purpose in life, more readily learn from the hard times and celebrate the lessons they bring as enhancements to the better periods of life.  This attitude enhances their drive to strive for “better” and put 110% into whatever they tackle. Let’s face it, we aren’t recruiting for the fire department or NASA…. we consider this fundamental a necessity for the industry.

“You’re going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don’t do. You don’t get to choose to not pay a price. You get to choose which poison you’re going to take. That’s it.”  ― Jordan B. Peterson
